Course Description
This introductory course is designed to demystify poetry for prose writers. In easy to learn steps, tools and techniques a student taking this course will be reading and writing poetry with more confidence. You鈥檒l learn how to read poems, and write some of your own. Poetry for Prose Writers will answer questions like does poetry have to rhyme? what鈥檚 the difference between prose and poetry? and, what exactly is and isn鈥檛 poetry? We will discuss things like the magical rule of three in poetry; meter; and the many forms of poetry. We鈥檒l also explore the crossover in craft and technique between poetry and prose.
